Tutorials Veins & Creases In this tutorial, I will show you how I go about painting creases in a caucasian reborn doll. First, I start with mixing my genesis heat set paints to get the desired colour. This is a mixture that I have had in my palette for quite awhile and I'm not sure of the mixture, but if mixing a new crease colour I generally start with some flesh 07 mixed with a touch of burnt umber and pyrole red 02 or quinacridone crimson. I mix my crease colour a little thicker than I mix most of my paints, so it is like the consistency of cooking oil. Next I take my brush and paint every crease, wrinkle, nook and cranny on the doll's face, head and limbs. This is how the doll looks after I have painted the creases, but before I have removed the excess paint. I then take my sponge and pounce off any of the excess paint. The sponge won't reach some of the deeper creases on the doll, so I use a large mop brush to pounce those areas. Here is a face after the creases have been painted and the excess paint removed. Reborning Tutorial The Base Coat 1. Mix Flesh 08 with odourless thinner. 2. Using a mop brush, cover the vinyl with the flesh 08 mixture. 3. Use a sponge to gently pounce the base coat. 4. Once the base coat is pounced evenly, use a brush to smooth our folds and creases and remove any excess paint in creases. 5. Repeat the process on all limbs and the face. 6. Bake at 268 for 8 minutes. Check the paint with a wet q-tip to make sure the paint sealed.
